SKETCH BOOK

The power of words. To depict, articulate and express. To lift and to suppress. The ability to change minds and provoke thought. Words can be thrown away or last like a stain. Words of emotion, words to heal, words to hurt.

WHAT WORDS HAVE YOU SAID TODAY?

Comic Landscape Project and discussions

The body of work displayed in Solihull Arts Complex reflects green environmental spaces.

Reduce, reuse, and recycle

Court yard painting ENTITLED: This is our town. HEROS who whisper change

This painting reflects the community in where we live. Family, homes and people all have a key role to the environment. This is your land to keep safe, clean and healthy. Within the world of the painting dark clouds are never too far away. They gloom over to the far right over certain homes making people uninspired, unmotivated and careless. Situated in certain spots are heroes to keep positive momentum circling.

Where are the Heroes to save the day?

James Nash, James Bourne and Karoline Rerrie have
used Illustration and comic styles to examine the regeneration that is
happening in the North of the Borough. Original art works are presented within the G2 Gallery.

Characters come together in happy wondrous tribes greeting one other waving and support each other making it communicative.

Three Framed Collage pieces ENTITLED: Places to go, places to be, creating green recycle points are needed!

These collage pieces where used from scrap cut-outs and recycled paper, new work can always be generated rather than thrown away.

Consider your home and what you throw away. What can be reused and be created?

Green Spaces

Creating open green spaces I feel should be more considered within areas of the community so that creative individuals and like minded people can play their part in motivating others to join in creative circles working on such materials.

Recycled card, paper, and plastics can all be reused in some way or another. More emphasis should be expressed in educating creative craft skills to people young and old. There should be more emphasis on solutions so that disposable rubbish can be filtered and turned into something new, such as works of art or durable furniture.

Homes are our core focal points, to tackle climate change and environmental issues, how are we to do this? Things must first begin here. We tend to throw so much away and not seem to care or consider where it all goes or how it affects our natural environments.  Nature has a way of doing this, but humans are consuming so much and therefore generating to much waste.

Comic book ENTITLED: The journey begins with Sketcho Guy

Sketcho guy finds a book which is blank, he picks it up and draws the book with his mind.

(For further information follow the story for updates online).

Style and inspiration

I enjoy painting and when doing so I become playful, childlike and imaginative which essentially is what this project is all about. I believe children are more receptive, inquisitive and open-minded in exchanging playful ideas. Thus the project reflects the children’s and my attitude towards our land and society around us. Neighbourhood Centres should be more available to develop solutions such as this to tackle climate and regeneration issues.

Please feel free to express your concerns around this topic.

A learning curve which I have gone through is understanding the importanc of communication and self expression.
